Can you give details on “1/8” pin stripe from Amazon” ? Are you saying you used pin stripe tape on them. If so, it seems the wheels are a harsh environment for tape?

The bolt will break on the modern one, just like the original. The difference is, it is contained and won’t fall to the bottom of the fly housing. IMHO, you should pull the starter every few thousand...

Are you sure it’s an ignition problem? After trying to start the engine, are the plugs wet? I like to spray a little ether in, to see if it will cough, to prove whether the problem is fuel or spark....

Sometimes the “slots or tabs” aren’t quite the same size. Have you tried putting your old distributor back in, just to see if it will drop in?

I ended up with some filing, and a washer as a shim on one corner. But boy do they close nice . Should have changed them out a long time ago!
