Re: electrical charging problem

The covers are spot welded on, usually with 2 spot welds, except the early type with tab terminals that have 4 spot welds. Filing the edge alone won't be enough to remove the weld. If you look close...

Re: three brush regulator

The March 1934 service bulletin has a pretty detailed description of the two-rate relay. I suggest reading that to get a good understanding of how it works.

Have you seen Dave Gunnarson's recent...

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

I just posted a new video about installing and seating generator brushes. The example is for a model A generator, but the same process applies to flathead V8s. Some of you may find it helpful. There...

Re: charging

If it was properly rebuilt, the brushes should have been sanded in to fit the commutator. I do this on every generator I rebuild.

Re: charging

You must use an analog meter. What kind of cutout are you using? Did you install it backwards? Post some good clear photos of your generator so we can see.

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Nobody working on a flathead V8 lately? I just got back from Luray where I sold some '35 Ford parts and refurbished original Ford cutouts.

Re: Generator Spinning

It sounds like the diode is either shorted or hooked up backwards. I offer refurbished original Ford cutouts and have the correct one for your generator. PM for details.

Re: Relocate battery in ‘35

I put an Optima in my '35 Fordor, stock location. Much easire to remove/replace. I made my own custom hold down bracket.

Re: Pully came off generator shaft

The thin nut and lock washer was used with a keyed pulley, as shown in the exploded diagram above, not the threaded pulley.

The thread on pulley used a locking clip on the end of the shaft, which...

Re: Pully came off generator shaft

I rebuild a lot of these generators. That is a thin nut, I would NOT use an impact wrench, there is a good chance of stripping it. Loctite - yes.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Pre-War Swap Meet, 05/10/2024-05/11/2024, Luray, VA

I'll be bringing a nice pair of '35 Ford bumpers and a set of hubcaps.

Re: Auction results in Varina Va.

I need to service, adjust and test the cutout first. I want to make sure it works properly first. If I can get it done in time. I'll bring it to Luray on Thursday.

Re: 6 Volt heater motor rebuild

I'm no expert on Hadees heaters, but I did restore one 6 or 7 years ago. Here are a couple other similar badges that say Hadees Heater on them.

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

The Luray pre-war swap meet is just over a week away. I've been working hard to get a batch of rebuilt generators and refurbished cutouts ready to bring. I just started on another batch of cutouts...

Re: 35 Hinge Pin Mirrors by Drake

My '35 came with the '36 style curved arms. Its not right, but they position just fine. But visibility with them sucks. The mirrors are small and so is the field of view. I went on ebay and found a...

Re: Mid-Atlantic Pre-War Swap Meet, 05/10/2024-05/11/2024, Luray, VA

Last year Brattons set up at Luray. You could pre-order online and they brought the order to Luray. That was nice to save the shipping. I just called to see if they were doing it again - the answer...
