You could probably pull that stud out a few turns from the block, less you didn't flip it the wrong way... as the adjacent seems fine. Best of luck!

Ya it makes sense. I respect the idea of using a early filter. But it's really not practical or really period correct. If you want period correct don't run one and change your oil. Worked for many...

My best advice would to go drive it. hard. burn off the carbine sitting in the driveway.

Blow by would be my guess. Change the oil sometimes. It'll get dirty. Drive it if pressure is good or above 0. It's not going to be clean forever. maybe put a filter on it if worried.

Motors were never stamped with vin on the deck. ya maybe someone stamped them. Not hard to get stamps. Most dealers had them.
Usually the kiss of death is lower valley cracks along the oil pan....

Great answer... I can weld a Mercedes, rolls, or s10 to a 41 ford. Both might be free to me but doesn't mean when I'm done it's worth anything. Fun yes. and sometime worth it too
