Re: axle housing bent
Held between centers and use a "porta-power" between the backing plate mount and the edge of the bell.
If you overshoot, perhaps a BFH (big, friggin, hammer)
Of course when mounted between...

Re: Hood fit with 29 cross member
I have seen differences in the location of the rivets. I think the assembly modus was to clamp an "alignment jig" (which was possibly "loose" and at approximate location by the operator) then...

Re: Hood fit with 29 cross member
Ford changed the 1929 front frame crossmember "lowering" the radiator mount landing points around October 1929. This was done in anticipation of the increased height of the 1930...

Re: Front and Rear Hubs 28 Model A
Part of the specialized tooling used to remove brake drums/studs are a "backing anvil" which supports the hub edge and the drum in turn. Others will use a deep hollow mill to remove at least part...

Re: Front and Rear Hubs 28 Model A
Being yours is a '28, you may or may not have the variant "AR" wheels - which require the variant AR drums. Other parts are similar or identical.
These complicate things, at least because of...

Ditto on the Teflon pads/cups. HOWEVER, their use is akin to the rubber wishbone ball cover - don't expect a tremendous life and keep an eye out for slop or "mushrooming."

Haute-couture in 1930. He would have laughed at his father's "spats."

Re: Radiator 1928 model A / AS questions
I can't quite see it, but I suspect the radiator is the period replacement "honeycomb" radiator.
Rather than made with upper and lower boxes connected by "tubes with fins", the honeycomb is...

Re: Radiator 1928 model A / AS questions
Obviously an accumulation of "parts."
The engine may be 1928, but the rear end and 4 speed transmission are the Borg-Warner "bevel gear" rear from 1930-31 Model year.
If you get further into...

Re: Model a Ford Transmission
Ditto Master Cylinder. You may not have rebuilt the "ball" which moves in the two inward facing slots in the shifter fork sliders. Or the ball and slots are both worn.
Or it may not have...

Re: Wheel Bearing Part #’s
Be advised that Timken is no longer exclusively an "American" product.
A nephew did an "Internship" at Timken in Shanghai and spent a year over there resolving "quality issues."

Re: Reusing cluster gears
My tendency is to buy about four transmission - and then combine them into one "reasonably good" transmission.
So needless to say there are a lot of parts "left over."
The other modus is to...

Re: distributor swap out question
Drill presses used as "presses" do a wonderful job of preventing cam-out. You need a drill press vise to hold the distributor body/shaft.

Probably not hub out of round but certainly something is "stuck."
The "eccentric" of the rear wheel brake shaft is likely stuck and prevents any "equalization" between shoes. This is a common...

I'm not sure the original was macerated. More likely laminated. I would never go below this in a gear but there have been a lot of gears come and gone over the years and I expect macerated was...

I remember 26 cents per gallon from about 1964. And riding with a gallon can placed in the mousetrap rack behind the seat of my bicycle.

Or leave the threaded hole with a threaded "plug" - so the next generation can query their board "does anyone know why this threaded plug was used at this location?"
