Re: What to Soak a Carburetor In
I'm with the ultrasonic group. Bought one a couple years back and it really works well for carbs. You can get one that holds 6L (over 1.5 gal) on Amazon or Ebay for $130ish. With a gallon of...

Re: fuel injection after market
So if a points Chevy small block distributor can be converted to a flathead, couldn't you use a TBI distributor and do the same thing? Then you could run a GM TBI setup with just an adapter for the...

Re: Theft Prevention Ideas??
I recently went on a trip on RT66 on my OT '66 Mustang. I did 3 things for theft prevention. 1-a battery cutoff switch in the trunk 2-a pistol trigger lock around the hood latch and 3-a cable lock...

Re: Fram oil supply line suggestions
You could make it out of steel tubing (fuel line). Both ends are fixed so should be OK. It's short so tight bends are difficult would be the hardest part.

Re: Electric fan over a belted fan
On my 2N tractor with 8BA, I have an electric fan. To fit using the common conversion kit you have to machine the front groove off the lower pulley. Even if you extended the tractor another inch or...

Re: Mercury rebuilt EAC longblock-whats it worth?
Pressed him for a few more details. The tag says it is 40 over on the bore and 20/20 on the crank. Also not a Ford reman, it is a National something or other out of Atlanta, GA. He does not know...

Re: Opinion on PCV valve for flathead?
The vacuum port just below the carb on an iron 8BA intake uses 7/16 banjo threads. I bought a GM disc brake 7/16 banjo bolt and a 7/16 banjo to 3/8 hose barb fitting (AKA 12mm banjo x 10mm barb). I...

Re: Flatheads,nature,time and effort
I like the adventure. I would want to pay at least slightly less than scrap. But if you can do it in 1 trip or maybe 2 and have a decent way to process them then it sounds like fun to me. Even 2-3...

Re: 1938 Flathead V8 Race Motor-What’s it worth?
I think they can also be used to do a V8 swap on a 9N/2N/8N tractor. I have an 8BA in mine, but seem to recall that a V8 60 goes in with less adapting. But I agree that this one should probably...

Re: 52 Ford flathead fuel pump push rod
I thought that when you removed the rod you were supposed to add a drift plug so that you didn't bleed oil pressure? If that is so, that plug would have to be removed.

Re: Need to replace oxy-acetylene torch set
I just had an Airco regulator rebuilt by the people who do our bottles at work. Only cost like $60. I had the torch built about 12 years ago, and I think it was about $50. I don't use either...

Re: not a Ford flathead but from that era
Nice!
Starting one of those with a hand-cranked pony is like nothing else. My uncle had an early 50s D6. We went to use it one day and could not find the crank. He told me "go get the 3/4 drive...
