Yes, that is my 59AB engine with these specs:

- 268 CI 59A block
- 4" Merc crank
- 0.400 Offenhauser heads
- Isky Max 1 cam
- Dual Stromberg 97s

My TDC tool is shown of the right side of my picture. Drill size P is a perfect fit into the distributor hole.

Here you go ....

I set the distributor up using the static method shown in early bulletins and also on Van Pelts site. Note that this is a rebuilt distributor that I got from Drake or Carpenter...

Is the center mark of the timing advance plate 4° advanced when the plate is inline with the distributor case mark? I believe it is.

Well I got my distributor setup nicely now using my homemade dwell meter.
It started immediately yesterday afternoon, runs great with no pinging. Very happy now with the original distributor. I plan...

Just took it out for a short test ride and it is working great, great power, no pings all is wonderful! Tomorrow may be a different story :-)

For a 12 V system you'll want to target about 4 ohms total resistance, sum of the coil's primary resistance plus an external ballast resistor.
