Re: Faulty temp gauge, sending unit, or...?
Put the thermostats in, they are a designed part of the cooling system to warm up the engine and keep it to the proper operating temperature. I see you are in Texas where I know from experience it...

Re: Rear spring shackle bushing intallation???
I have the KRW tool with specific bushings for removal and installation that accomplishes this task. Still a bit of work. I use a brake hone to polish up the inside of the hole and put the new stud...

Re: 1940 Fords
Larry,
It was all I could get at the time, was a supply problem, Coker had just bought out the Universal Tire Company and the backlog was "years" and "unknown" if they would be making any more of...

Re: Kr Wilson timing tool
Probably any 6v bulb that fits the socket. I would try dash gauge light bulbs. I have one of those (with no bulb) but never used it as I have a SUN machine.

Re: 1940 V8 Cam / valve timing
What distributor are you using? If it is a stock helmet, are you using a Haney rebuilt coil? If you are using an adapter with a round coil make sure it is not a really high secondary voltage one. ...

Re: 41 stock v8 flywheel question
Many people (me included) use the Merc flywheel that doesn't have that ring which limits you to a 9" clutch. This allows you to have a 10" clutch but maybe that doesn't matter to you. Those stock...

Re: Ford intake with S

Re: engine stumbles under load
I have never used a "pertronix" but do they even need a resistor? There are no points to burn up. I have heard the electronic distributors don't play well with generators as they like a stable...

Re: Left ignition switch on
Send the coil to Skip Haney and the distributor to one of the people here that sets them up on machines and learn from your mistake. If it now doesn't have any voltage at the coil, replace the...

Re: Verify 1934 Ford Accessories, Please
Post the length of the shaft that engages the crank nut. There are several different lengths for different years due to how far from the grill it needs to be for it to reach.

Re: Help with a recent 8ba rebuild
I try to assume nothing but #1 on a flathead is the front US passenger side cylinder. People who are used to modern engines often get that wrong. Also, as far as I know, a flathead is the only v8...
