Cabriolet verses Roadster
 

Hi all. I am looking to get into a 36 cabriolet or roadster and as there are limited examples of each in NZ I was hoping for some info from the many learned members out there. In short I can see the obvious door, screen & cowel variances between the 2 models but was wondering what other differences there are, the preferred model and why? Cheers Chris

Chris, the roadster is the preferred for a definite style advantage. If you would base a decision on the roll up windows of the Cabriolet, then you miss the whole point of having a classic example of Early Ford. The door roll into the cowl and bright windscreen frame makes the whole design really come to life.
Then, some base their decision on the numbers: The Roadster had a very low production number, I don't have access to that number at the moment, but something like just over 600 worldwide units. That in itself makes it more desirable, and the $ numbers should rightfully follow.

A cabriolet is a car for all seasons. A roadster is a fair weather friend.

Those of us that are looking for a roadster think that you should buy a cabriolet. :)

That's why Baskin Robbins makes 32 flavors. As for me, hands down cabriolet. Roll up windows! The roadster is a bit sportier but comfort and functionality cabriolet all the way!

In model A, roadster is so uncomfortable and I'm not a big guy. Can't tell much difference in my 34 rdstr vs cabby.

there have been a few for sale lately down here but as usual big bucks some times cheaper to bring 1 in but get it inspected over there trev nz

Roadsters do look nice, but as others have said when it's cold or rainy I like rolling up the windows and turning the heater on in my 36 Cabriolet. Besides the production numbers I thought were about the same for the two, with the Cab. being more expensive.

The Roadsters are a little more sporty like mine but there were times I wish I had windows.you will probally have to take what you can find in your price range.

To me when the 35/36 came around, the roadster doesn't to fit like the earlier models.

Thanks one and all. Either would be desireable but the roadster gets my vote. My biggest challenge lies in the rarity, especially here in the land of the "long white cloud", and in particular a builder :( Time to hit the market place and hopefully might have a build thread to share with you all one day.
