How much for a 1924 truck?

I'd appreciate any help. I found a 1924 truck that doesn't run but is not locked up. It has a Ruckstell and comes with some wheels and extra rear fenders. What do you think? Does it look worth going after? I want to make a realistic offer. What would you be looking at? Thanks.

You should be able to get that one for something South of $1500.

Thanks for your help. This was pretty close to home and has the local history behind it.

Did the Huckster style trucks ever come in a pickup style like this one is set up? This one has a closed in cab in back with a small window opening and no roof extending over the entire bed.

Re: How much for a 1924 truck?

Definately not a factory Ford cab. Several aftermarket companies made wood cabs for the T and TT chassis. This one almost looks homebuilt. Rod

May not be a homebuilt, the body seems more like commercial made, good irons, the tailgate irons, nice in frame windshield, seat back rest, etc.....a real good check of the woodwork for clues or perhaps still a remaining emblem or nameplate of the body mfg would put that to rest!

Good one to go for!

Just to clarify about the body, it's non-Ford, whatever it is. In 1924 Ford sold only the chassis. The body was either home made or manufactured by one of the many aftermarket body companies.

Re: How much for a 1924 truck?

You mean that there were no Ford-made steel TT truck cabs prior to 1925??? I am not challenging you on that, but didn't know that, if it is true. That's something I guess I am just now learning.

Re: How much for a 1924 truck?

I could have sworn that Ford made a steel cab for the TT starting in 1923. Rod

Re: How much for a 1924 truck?

Ford introduced the Ton Truck, with heavy chassis and worm drive rear end in 1918.

That TT could be had chassis only, or in a variety of factory truck bodies.

The Model T in the first post with a huckster wood body is not a TT (ton Truck), it is a car chassis, a Model T ...... long running board, and car leaf spring in rear, its not a Ford TT.

Re: How much for a 1924 truck?

tmodelman,

The 115 body style looks very close to what this truck has. I looked up that company after seeing your post and they have some very interesting info. about the Mifflinburg Body Co.. They even have a museum and history timeline. Thanks for sharing your info.
Back in its day, this truck would have been in the area of early Pa. oil fields, railroads and logging camps.

Did you buy this truck? If it is a Mifflinburg truck I would be interested in talking to you about it!

I did buy it. After getting it home and looking into it further, it turns out to be a 1917. I was able to trace it back to the original owner and found it came from a dealership in Marietta, Ohio. I haven't found anything yet that confirms it to have a Mifflinburg body. Looks close though.

If you let me know the dealership name I'm sure I could find out if they were connected to Mifflinburg Body Company.

The dealership was the George C. Wilderman Ford Agency. This will be interesting to see if they were connected. Thanks.

Thanks. Guess I was at the right place and at the right time. Giant Eagle tried to purchase it as a store display but the prior owner wasn't ready to sell it.

Not to highjack this thread, but since you have this truck maybe we could compare the windshield frame dimensions and design as I am still trying to ID this one and am having a tough time doing it. Thanks Rod
