Fender mount parking lights Are there any identifying marks on the ford accessory park lights?
|
Re: Fender mount parking lights the ones that mount on the fenders are in the shape of the headlights... can't say about identification marks..They are rare to find them.....
|
Re: Fender mount parking lights I have a pair of each of the 28-29's and the 30-31's. They mimic the headlight shape and style. I could not find any identifying marks on either set. From the photos in the litrature I've seen my sets appear to be originals.

Re: Fender mount parking lights Fender mounted parking lights were made for the foreign market, IMO. British and most European cars had fender mounted parking lights.

Re: Fender mount parking lights The 30-31's are a small version of the headlights the rim held on with a bar clip same as the headlights. I think the 28-29's rims are held in with screw and clip like the early stainless cowl lamps . They are very hard to find even in England.

Re: Fender mount parking lights Those ones on Ebay look like the right lights for 28-29 but the wrong trim pieces that mount on the fender as they have points on them that would dig into the fender . Look like door handle escutheons to me.

What other European countries besides the UK? They were not standard on Model A's in France, not Germany, not Denmark, not Sweden, not Finland, not Switzerland, not Spain, not the Netherlands, not Austria, not Italy, not Poland, not Hungary, not Belgium, not in any of the Balkan countries nor Greece.... As in the US, after-market accessory fender lights in Europe were available from non-Ford suppliers, but were very rarely used. By the way, the 1928-29 Ford Model A fender lights are/were being reproduced in limited numbers in Brazil. I saw them when I visited there several years ago. Fordially, Brad in Maryland |
Re: Fender mount parking lights Hmmm... I have a set of these in a box here. I had no idea they were worth that much!

Re: Fender mount parking lights There is a picture and wiring instructions in the Service Manual. They were meant for the American market, just not real popular. I think the base does come back to a point on the 28-29 ones, I would have to look at the the illustration again.

Re: Fender mount parking lights 3 Attachment(s)
this is an original 29 with the correct escution (sp)
the ones with the tear drop are incorrect there was an article in the Restorer years ago where the original owner had bought a sport coupe and on the invoice he bought fender lamps, and he also had a photo of the car with them mounted tom |
Re: Fender mount parking lights MSMARON, I'm not computer literate enough to do pictures. We've got an older computer and I barely know how to get on Fordbarn.

Re: Fender mount parking lights They sold for $290.... i am surprised they went that cheap given the rarety......

Re: Fender mount parking lights Fender lamps were a US accessory & in 1929, the fender stays/braces have a hole drilled through at the top so they can be installed.
Most commonly seen on Sth American Model A's whch required parking lights separate from the headlamps; even commercial cars had them, but painted. I think they look much better than cowl lamps on the 1928 '29's |

Re: Fender mount parking lights Parking lights long gone I suppose? Just thought I should ask. I'm real interested in a set for our Canadian early '28 Tudor. Thanx for another great informative thread guys! Pat S.

Re: Fender mount parking lights I sold the pair I had in Feb. 2013, shortly after offering them for sale above.
They looked just like the ones in Tom's (mot's) pictures. My Dad and I took them off a car back in the 70's and they had been sitting in a box ever since. I'm trying to get rid of stuff that I know I'll never use, both to clear out space and to get it out to people who will use it. |
