I took some pictures of the model TT! Someone could give me some information about this model? Engine number, I think beginning with 16 or 18

Re: Model TT truck wooden cab The chassis was lengthened behind the cab, for installed a whippet or rugby gearbox in the past! Don't remember well!!
I do not understand much but the owner told me he had several difficulties to handle the issue of the gearbox! He put gas in the tank and clean the spark plugs and then turn the ignition key and started up after not less than seven years, then driving the truck a few miles up the road to his hometown. On the way he noticed that the adaptation of the gearbox was something really strange or poorly made, so if pressed a pedal (I forget which) could lose your brakes or something! |
Re: Model TT truck wooden cab Estas fue un sueno malo!! Actually theres a lot left to it. The worm drive Ruckstell rear end makes it a 20 mph truck. Also looks to have Model "A" hubs and wire wheels converted. Model TT rear wheels can be very costly! Usually, with an auxilliary transmission, if it slips into neutral you have no brakes. Auxilliary rear external drum brakes are needed to stop. Model Ts brakes are on the engine/transmission.
Try the best as possible to disassemble everything and use as templates. As you live in S.A. I would consider using an exotic wood for the cab like mohagony or teak. Post lots of pictures! ws An addition... it looks like there is already some type of rear brakes installed from the linkage on the brake pedal. Need photos of the rear wheels/drums. |
Re: Model TT truck wooden cab An engine number beginning with 16 or 18 indicates 1917, which is wrong. The engine has a starter, which means 1919 or later. The brake pedal is 1926-1927.

I'll take some photos and post it soon!! Many thanks... Ford model A hubs and wheels were used for transport the truck from somewhere to the original location. |
Re: Model TT truck wooden cab 12 Attachment(s)
Leandro, I've never heard of a 14 digit chassis number. It wouldn't be from Ford. They did start stamping chassis numbers on top of the frame (under the floor boards) during the 1926 model year. They were the same as the numbers stamped on the engine. 1926-27 numbers are eight digits, starting with 14 or 15.
Anyway, here are some pictures of a home made cab. Here's a discussion that includes TT tire sizes:http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages...tml?1353512834. |
Re: Model TT truck wooden cab Many thanks for the pictures Steve, I'll checked the chassis number again!!

Re: Model TT truck wooden cab Heres a few pics of a 1926 Martin-Perry truck for sale locally. Some peculiarities are their own hardware, and usually part numbers in crayon or stenciled and painted, whatever on all the parts. The sliding doors have a ratchet system for holding the windows in position. ws
