Lurkers Paradise Stats

Just playing around on the 'Members List' page. Of the 6272 registered on Fordbarn (all forums), 3206 have made ZERO posts. That's more than half! Add to that a staggering number with only one post.

Also an interesting thing to look at once in awhile is the "Who's Online" pages. An amazing amount of "Guests" that read the forums, but are not registered or do not sign in. Rod

Re: Lurkers Paradise Stats

I usually just lurk because I can usually find what I am looking for. Oh and if I do have a question I already know that I need a judging standards book, or the one from Less Andrews and a set of the service bulletins to answer my questions, so there is no reason to post.

I lurked for years before I decided that an A was for me. I read about the problems and the great help on solving the problems. Then I met up with a local club at a show, joined, bought an A, was President of the club for 3 years and have have had the best time of my life

Re: Lurkers Paradise Stats

NOTHING WRONG with lurking as a guest or registering but not posting. You do need to sign in to see all the photos though, which means some of those who just want to read are required to register and sign in. Otherwise the lurker list would be larger.
I only post when I have something to contribute. Generally something of value rather than just air, although some might think that everything I write is just air..... like this post. I don't post a lot of questions because there is ALWAYS someone who will say "why do you want to do that, the horse was good enough" or "go buy the ______ book and don't waste our time" type of replies.
"Air replies." They all count toward becoming a "Senior" and getting rid of the "Junior" label though.

I guess that is why I only have 58 posts instead of 158.

Wednesday is my morning to be snotty. Wife's was yesterday.

Re: Lurkers Paradise Stats

I rarely have a question that hasn't been answered in an earlier post, and I rarely have an answer someone else hasn't already posted in a thread. There's a lot of collective knowledge in a group this size.

I sure wish the search facility had the normal features most do: And/Or/Not/Whole Phrase/Exclude. If they're there, I sure haven't found them documented. Hey, there's a question for the group...

If a question could only be asked and answered once there would no need for this or any other forum, no magazines for the past 40 years or so.

SO ASK AWAY!!! There will always be an asshole or someone having a bad day that will give someone grief for asking.

Refering to articles ans books are great, AFTER you answer the question as the person asking it needs it now.

Am I perfect? No way! I try to give back in thanks for all that help and suggestions I've gotten over the years.

In contrast to the lurkers, how many professional Model A mechanics, restorers, machinists, etc., post here regularly?
