Help find a good 57 TBird forum

My name is Vicki and my husband just brought home my father's 57 Tbird for me. I want to get it back to driving condition and need to get some help from some guys with 57s. My husband has built many cars so he can do the work but I need suppliers, parts, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Vicki

I am in the same boat. I contacted the national T-Bird club (CTCI) and was suprised to find they did not have a forum. They do have restoration guidelines (judging standards) but I haven't got a copy yet. If someone sends you something off line I would appreciate it if you would post it.

YBLOCKSFOREVER.COM has a forum that has many of the most knowledgeable and helpful people around when it concerns any mid-50's Ford product. It's primary focus is(as the name implies) is the engines used in these cars, but they do deal with any aspect of your Bird.

if you want parts type Thunderbird Headquarters, or just type in 57 t bird in your search box and you will find a lot of sites for the t bird

Use CASCO for hard parts and interior. Dennis Carpenter for rubber parts and parts they manufacture, like antenas and hubcaps. Try Tom Sestak, now on ebay, for nos parts. Rock Auto on line for general parts like raybestos, monroe etc. Have fun. We have three of the darn things.

www.vintagethunderbirdclub.net - go the home page and find the pull-down menu that will let you sign up for the forum for the Vintage Thunderbird Club International, which covers all T-birds '55-'05.

There are a lot of excellent suppliers of Baby Bird parts.

Previously mentioned have been Casco and Dennis Carpenter. Can also add Hills in Ohio,Larrys in Calif,Concours,NPD and many more.

Depends on what price and quality of parts you are seeking.

As for Forum action, the best group that I have found is the Yahoo groups Classic Thunderbird Forum.

You have to join the Yahoo group to access it but hey have been the best source of information that I have discovered.

Congrats on your Bird. :p

You might also check over on the HAMB (Jalopy Journal) - they have a Thunderbirds social group:

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/g...hp?groupid=136

But stay here too! There's quite a lot of overall Ford related tech tips, supply sources etc here. If you or he has a specific question about your 'bird, post it and someone might be able to assist

Re: Help find a good 57 TBird forum

With some slight variations, the T-Bird Y block engine is the same as the Y blocks used in the '55-57 cars.
I have a '57 Bird which we have owned since '73 and a '56 which I have owned since '85.. I have had great success obtaining replacement parts from Larry's, Corona, CA, Prestige Thunder Birds, Sante Fe Springs, CA and National Parts Depot (NPD)...
if you are looking for a social network to hang out in, the Fordbarn is probably not the place, however, for tec/parts questions, the Barn does a very good job...

One more supplier who is very good to deal with is Tee-Bird Products. They specialize in 55,6,7 Tbirds and have a comprehensive catalogue. You can check numbers on line but you need to phone through order.
Their web address is http://www.tee-bird.com/
They have just released their new printed catalogue.

I very good discussion group is in Yahoo groups

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/...guid=278921547

I have used CASCO and Tee-Bird Products for parts and I'm very happy with them. CASCO also has a tech line which is very good. Even though I buy from them, they have never asked me if I am a customer when I have asked for advice and information.

Most of the rubber parts sold by most TBird parts vendors are Carpenters.
