New here, new project 4 Attachment(s)
My wife and I have recently acquired her grandpa's Model A, or what's left of it. Her grandfather's family owned a trucking company, "20th Century Trucking" I believe, and this truck was driven by him when he was a teenager in the late 30's!! I don't exactly what body style it was from the factory, or when it was converted but at some point it ended up doorless with a canvas top over the front seat and bed area. It was a driver until about 10-15 years ago, when it was disassembled. Unfortunately some parts, including the bed sides/floor, and top structure have come up missing. It's been disassembled in my mother-in-law's garage for a few years and the family has decided to let us be the new owners and get it back on the road. Considering the body parts that are missing, we aren't sure of the direction we'll take. We are referring to it as the Guacamol"A" as a tribute to her grandparents avocado ranch they have in Fallbrook. As I understand it this truck never served duty working in the grove, but I'd like to get back to way it was, with a bit a farm truck look. I'd like to have my pinstriper add some vintage style lettering to the side connecting it to them and thier ranch. My wife's grandparents had a term for thier property, and that is "Heart X2", so I'm imaging something on the side saying "Heart x2 - Avocado Ranch - Fallbrook, CA" This project will move slowly as it's not a priority now, but you can guarantee I'll keep you posted.
Anyone recognize this body style and something other than "homemade"? We do have those little "door" pieces. Attachment 85108 "Bed" sides and canvas structure are gone. Attachment 85099 This is what we've got, plus grill shell/hood/fenders/running boards. Attachment 85100 This is our sedan, the Little Gem. Attachment 85101 |
Re: New here, new project Kinda reminds me of this:

Re: New here, new project Hi Berdoo and welcome to the club. I looks like your truck was a late 31 wide bed at one time. A lot of people 'modified' their cars as that is all they had to work with and theu made them fit the job. If it was a wide bed from what I understand, they are very hard to find-and expensive. But what you can do is get a reproduction bed and roadster pick up body and fit them to your frame and recreate what her grandfather did. It is an option.

Re: New here, new project At the time the Model A was made you could buy a running chassis and cowl exactly what you have left, and then put your own body on many companies made these bodys . I think you have a fine start for a Huckster and that would fit right in with the farm image your thinking about. look at the commercial thread I am sure you'll see a few there
Good Luck with it John Cochran |
