Safe Model A Hauling on a Trailer

Since I have restored my 1930 Model A Coupe, I have not hauled it on a trailer. I am now more involved with antique auto tours, some which a distance away.

I have a Class III Curt Trailer Hitch on my 1995 Ford F150 pickup, with V8 motor.
I do not have a trailer for hauling, and will probably rent one for now. Would be a dual axle trailer. My question concerns if the Class III trailer hitch is adequate. The hitch has a 6000# Gross Load Weight Carrying Capacity. Considering the Coupe at around 2300# and the tailer around 1500#, total weight would be around 3800#. So, if I understand correctly, the Class III trailer hitch should be adequate??

Just chiming in, but I hauled a Model A (2200 lbs) on a U-Haul dual-axle trailer (1900 lbs) behind my '96 Bronco. My hitch was rated 5000 lbs, the minimum U-Haul would allow to rent the trailer.

class III is fine for what you are hauling, the imporant thing is to strap it right I always pull front and rear, using soft ties around axle

When we flatbedded mine, we drove it in, then four point tie down with rachet straps thru the wheels, this lets the suspension work, 100 miles, didn't move. Safety chain a plus, because s__t happens.

Just make sure that you have trailer brakes and a proper brake controller.

I never liked trailering my cars on an open trailer, they get beat up by debris worse than if you drive them and you cant really cover them. I would use an enclosed trailer if I pulled again In the long run it may be cheaper.

Over kill. 4 ratcheting chain binders 4 ratcheting straps. the straps are used to pull down on the suspension.
I trailered it from Long Island New York to Florida Massachusetts. About 240 miles so my daughter could use in a 4th of July parade.

I have found it important to load the car quite far forward to permit sufficient tongue weight to make for safe driving on the highway.
Four wheel brakes go without saying, and are required by many states for some good reasons.
