Bob Drake water pumps

I received a sale notice for Bob Drake water pumps. Does anyone know if he ever rectified the issues with the ones that did not fit ? 100 bucks for 2 pumps is a good price but only if they are good pumps.

I purchased four of those pumps when they first came out. I had trouble with two of them not clearing the timing or distributor cover. I used a grinder and made the pumps fit in less than 5 minutes. If the pumps don't fit it was nothing for me to make them fit. No problems after the installation.

I've got a pair, had ém about 2 years. They fit perfectly, no problem at all. I can run them at 13lbs and not a leak to be seen. Go for it!

Do you need a code to get the discount? Thanks Gary

Yes, my e-mail said to use code FS112 for the free shipping and 99.50 water pumps.

Roadster 36, I've been down that road your about to turn left on. Keep going straight! Like yours, Walt rebuilt my flathead. I did not listen to Walt @ first and long story short, I had my pumps rebuilt by skip.

There are countless threads on the "good deal" overseas pumps. Some guy's are very happy and that's great. But my .02, it would be better to have rebuilt Skip pumps on that rebuilt Walt Dupont Flathead:D Some things just work great together.

Thanks for the post, I will take your advice. Walt's pumps look good, I am putting together a French flathead for my last project. I have some cores and will send them to skip.-Dennis

Could you double check that code? I tried it and received the following error:
"Sorry, the coupon code you entered does not exist."

Same thing...does not exist. That code must be associated with your customer name. Too bad, I'd love to have them at that price.

I have the same e-mail flyer. It says WP112 as well.

Tried it for both early and late pumps and it won't work for me.
I'll call them in the morning and see what gives. Thanks for the info.

Just got off the phone with Drake sales rep and told him of the problem. He said to just put the code in the "comment box" and the sale price ($99.50) would be honored however there is NO free shipping.
Pumps ordered were 59AB type...not sure about 8BA.

hmmmm....I wonder if they are actually in stock? Did you possibly ask about that? I'm not trying to start a bad mouthing Bob post here, but the last time I put in a big order from a sales catalog that included free shipping, half of the order was placed on back order. I eventually received everything I ordered but most all of the back ordered parts arrived a piece at a time. I have placed smaller orders for parts not on sale since then and had no problems.

Re: Bob Drake water pumps

Well, after seeing that free shipping coupon, I decided to call back and get a little more info. They told me that I was getting the pumps for 99.50 and shipping is free. seems there are two codes:
FS112 is for the free shipping and
WP112 is for the water pumps.

When ordering online, they must be mentioned in the "comment box" to work. If you put it in the "code box" it will NOT register.
Also, they are in stock. whew!

The email list Drake uses is free if you choose to subscribe and affords the opportunity to take advantage of specials they offer, often way ahead of the catalog sales. I have found it convenient and a great way to save some money plus you can receive it before the mass-mailed sales flyer causes a possible back order. JMHO RPM
