Alemite Grease gun for Model A? I am gradually building a basic tool kit for my A. Have small wrenches and adjustable crescent, and spark plug / head bolt wrench. A neighbor gave me an Alemite grease gun made by Stewart - Warner (#6556). I would like to add an original gun to the tools, but the number refers me to Jeep when I do internet searches. Does anyone have the Alemite # for Model A's? Thanks for any input. BW

Re: Alemite Grease gun for Model A? Maybe several #'s apply to the Alemite grease guns over the years that Model A kits were offered - I am sure modifications were applied. Just looking for a reference. Can't trust ebay to lead me to the correct gun for 1928-1929 cars. I have seen some beautiful representations of a "Model A Tool" kit that were not correct. BW

Re: Alemite Grease gun for Model A? Just to make it more interesting, there were also grease guns for Model A made in Canada. Both look same [ fine knurling on caps] but one is marked 'Stewart Warner Alemite Corp. Canada', the other has 'Alemite Products Company, Canada Ltd.' Both have patent dates[ 1920-21].
Model A style 'gun issued from 1928-1934. After that, only some deluxe Ford V8's had them in toolkit. This is the one with model no. 6550 & is lighter & fatter than 'A' one. On ebay they are always touted as 'Model A'. And,yes these also had Canadian versions |
Re: Alemite Grease gun for Model A? The original Ford Model A grease guns in Germany have the words "Deutsche TECALEMIT D.R.R" (D.R.P. = Deutsches Reich Patent, 1877 to 1945) written above the Ford script on the barrel. There are no other markings or numbers.
Here is the best I could do for a photo of what it looks like: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...GunGermany.jpg Other than that, the German grease gun appears to be the same as the US versions. Fordially, Brad in Germany |
Re: Alemite Grease gun for Model A? Thats an interesting photo of German greasegun. There was no Ford script on US/Canadian ones. Were there other German made tool items ? I have read Ford Koln had high local content then [ German chassis etc.].I believe the English Model A's also had local supplied tool items.
