pines winterfront

does any one have a pines winter front for their A? It has been snow free here in MI so far this year and I would like to have driven the A more but even with a thermostat installed, it runs really cold.

I was thinking adding one of these may help out? I would have used the car much more these past few months but cant get my prettier half to go out in it with me when she's freezing her buns off.

I would be interested in getting one to try if someone on here has one that they are willing to part with. I have an original NOS aluminized fabric one for a 28-29 and two for late 30's fords that I would be willing to trade or sell if some one is interested.

If you are just wanting to run your A, and don't care about the early accessories, you can do what the truckers do and just put cardboard on part of the grill to get it warmer.

Even the guys in Bonneville in the 40s did it.

the winterfront grills are going for big money today. Best of luck finding one if you really want to run it. They do look neat.

You know those that followed my problems this summer with overheating will not believe that now with the new 3 core radiator this winter I have the same problem. Cardboard isn't pretty but it does work.

I have a '28-'29 winterfront somewhere in my shed if anyone's interested. (I would add a cable into the passenger compartment for manual adjustment of the louvers.)

My '31 runs cold year 'round, even with a thermostat. I made my own "winterfront" out of black vinyl and velcro. By peeling open strategically placed openings I can regulate the temperature quoite nicely. No worries.

How about a picture or two of your homemade version?

i bought one on ebay last spring . it is in awesome shape. i was going to put it on my 29 pickup but it doesnt fit between the lightbar and shell. i never really looked into it any further, but it is pretty neat. i assume it works also, i put a heat gun to it and it opens.

I have a Globe Winterfront for a 30-31. Not sure if I'm going to use it or not. I got it without the control cable, so that has slowed down my decision somewhat.

Carl,

If you decide not to use it please let me know, However I would think shipping would make it cost prohibitive for me?

Carl how about a picture of it.

good idea TinCup! I have never actually seen on on a A. Anyone have a picture of an A wearing one?

I'll have to see if I can dig up a picture, but of course, mine is not installed on the truck, It is NOS in the box (minus the control and cable.)

There is a guy in our club that has one on his 31 Pickup, but he lives about 300 miles from me and I don't see his rig all that often.

I would love to have one but I would like to see one first if I could.

harleyjj: Email me at Aerocraft at AOL dot com with your postal address and I'll package up and mail one to you that has been disassembled and glass beaded. I believe it is complete. It's yours for the postage and you can send that to me when you get the package.

Re: pines winterfront

You know I like to use period accessories when I can and this is one I have looked for a couple of years for. It only took me 2 years to find a original fumaze and now they show up almost every month on ebay.

Re: pines winterfront

harleyjj: As an alternative, I could bring it to my daughter's home in Richland, near Kalamazoo, and you could come get it when you are ready. I'll be there just after Christmas.
