A "just because" picture. This is the C59A in my AV8. It is dead stock with the exception of duals and Smithys. It runs 65lbs at startup and drops to about 40lbs when hot. It's backed up with a 36 trans and 47 rear.
Down the track a little I plan to run twin carbs, a set of headers and mill the heads to raise compression a bit. However, it runs pretty good in a light car, so no priority on the mods. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...Picture003.jpg |
Re: A "just because" picture. Thank you just because for posting that nice picture. We need to see the rest of the car!

Re: A "just because" picture. Hey Bassman, I just built a C59A for a guy in Canada. It's the first one i"ve see. Do you know what year that engine is? Is the bore 3-3/16? Does it have 2 core plugs in the each pan rail? Does it pass the pencil test on the front of the block? This was an interisting engine for me. It seemed to be half an early 39-41 block and half 46-48. Thanks Walt

Re: A "just because" picture. You can tell if it has the core plugs above the pan rail by looking at the side of the block above the pan rail. The early blocks with core plugs have two humps on the side of the block. The later blocks are smooth. G.M.

Re: A "just because" picture. all canadian c59 a engines had the plugs different than usa engines theres also a c69 blocks that had real thick walls you can bore them right out with no worries, they where all 3 3/16ths:)trev

Re: A "just because" picture. And the C69A blocks do not have the plugs in the pan rails unlike the C59A blocks. Brian

Re: A "just because" picture. Bet it scoots pretty good . What's it weigh ? On having 40 # of oil pressure hot - The oil gods like you . On my last summer's wheels 33 -w- 33 motor the oil pressure NEVER reached 10 # hot & it would be 1-2 # at slow idle . . It will peg the old 50 # gauge cold . Runs fine & it got around a bunch last summer . CAM BEARINGS were a HUGE improvement in 1935 .
