What to pay for a double A 3 Attachment(s)
I was thinking about buying an AA. I'm somewhat savvy with Model A prices but not these trucks. Assuming the drive train and brakes are in decent shape and then based on these few pics, can you guys give me a price range for this baby?
Thanks |
Re: What to pay for a double A Ohh I dunno, ....maybe one side or the other of $7,500.00. There really is so much else that should be factored in when making this kind of appraisal decision. We cannot see the interior, nor can I see details of the engine (type carburetor, fuel line, coil, etc.) nor can I really see body sheetmetal condition.
I do know that if it were mine I would drive it often ....after I first removed that stone guard! ;) . |
Re: What to pay for a double A I agree it is probably worth 6500.00 to 8000.00 I would offer him 6,000.00 and go from there

Re: What to pay for a double A Interesting that it has bright headlight buckets, but a black radiator shell. My PU is just the opposite. I agree with Brent on the Stone Guard!

Re: What to pay for a double A I have a Model AA Flatbed myself which I obtained more than twenty years ago.
Before I shelled out Six or Eight thousand dollars for a AA I would want to know a heck of a lot more about it. Is it 131-1/2" wheelbase or 157"? 157" models are less desirable. What is the condition of the Rims, Split Rings and Tires. You can tie up a lot of money on the wheels alone. Does it have all 5 or 7 Rims? What about the bed, is it original to the truck. The Stakes don't look original. Often the back of the cab bottom is fatigued and rusted along with the front bottom cowl sections. If you have to do Transmission work you have about a 30% chance that the case is rebuildable, they usually had a very hard life. Also U-Joints are spendy. What about the Radiator, is it a 4 Core AA unit or one out of a car. It has a nice late '31 front bumper. More photos would be helpful. Darryl in Fairbanks |
Re: What to pay for a double A ive seen them for 2k& up.

Re: What to pay for a double A I agree with Darryl. Also if you are lucky and have the Hi-Speed rear axle, you will top out at about 43 mph. Low speed about 33.

Re: What to pay for a double A Speaking of AA. Does that mean the engine number starts with AA? My 31 Deluxe Coupe has engine #AA2560452. I can't figure out what it came out of, but I doubt it was the original for my 31.

Re: What to pay for a double A buyitsmart
Engines with AA designation were originally in a AA Truck chassis. It identified the engine as having a heavy duty clutch. The engine itself is identical to the Model A car engine. I believe all car engines were stamped *A, however not all AA engines were stamped with a *AA engine number. Darryl in Fairbanks |
Re: What to pay for a double A Is the cab bigger than a pickup?

AA Cabs are the same as Model A Pickup cabs. Darryl in Fairbanks |
Re: What to pay for a double A 2 Attachment(s)
that truck looks like a resto in the last 10 years so you could figure it may have been gone through, looks like some cared about it enough to try to get all the parts back on it , although not all correct as noted light buckets front and back should be painted shells also the rear view mirrors are not originals, looks like the wood on the bed is plywood so its value is diminished , ive been putting together my own aa for the past 3 years and am finally enjoying the fruits of the labor , they dont go fast are are heavy vehicles i can keep up with traffic at 40mphs and have been up to once 50 mph on the flat long road but much over 45 and you have to be concerned its an old worn engine but keeps up fine.

Re: What to pay for a double A I would have an A expert inspect it...maybe compression ,the frame and brakes...Has it been sitting long and is there a fuel filter on engine...open gas tank and smell the fuel...any rust or condensation.....you could always ask the seller what he wants for it but there may be a few things that need attention the seller is unaware of...regards Gump
