Stiff clutch. Hi all. I've just fitted a 24 stud and later 39 box into my 32 (LHD) and find the clutch heavy with a short pedal action. I am using the 39 box clutch release shaft fork and suspect this is to short. Is there another fork I should be using or do I have to modify this one? (I also have a fordor and the original 32 fork is longer on this and offers a longer pedal action.) Chris

Re: Stiff clutch. You need the 32 release lever. With the characteristic dog leg and longer length, it's the only one that works well in a 32. Do you have the 9 inch Long type clutch or the later 10 inch Long type?

Re: Stiff clutch. Thanks Kerby. I think I've cracked it by just extending the fork by 1 1/2 inchs. Made a big difference and basic maths I suppose. Appreciate the feedback. Chris

Re: Stiff clutch. Hey Chris,
Any tips on extending that dinky little lever? I'm considering extending mine to make my 11" clutch a bit easier for the wife to handle. There must be some amazing pressure on any welding. I had thought of the usual cut, chamfer and weld, then slipping on the two halves of a piece of heavy wall tube cut down it's length and welded on. Marty. |
