Turn signal

I have always wired up my own turn signal from scratch using toggle switch, flasher, etc. I always used 4 lights and it was turn indicators only. Now I want to use rear light with tail and stop light combination and for the stop light to flash for signal. I don't know how to wire that up. Does anyone know how?

I made my own system also, but did the rear lights using a dual-filament bulb. I don't know how you could do what you want using a standard flasher.

When I wired signal lights with the toggle stsyem I kept them separate from the other circuits Gord. B by the bay

Re: Turn signal

There was a tech article posted on the HAMB regarding this a few months ago. I was interested in doing the same so I saved the link. Unfortunatly the pics are no longer in the original post but someone re-posted the schematic on post #34.

Its slightly more involved but still pretty simple and I think it does what your looking for. He used a column mounted signal lever in his example but I believe a simple toggle switch would work with his wiring.

Re: Turn signal

I just wired turn signals in my 29 coupe. I did buy a less than $20 turn signal lever and flasher to mount on the steering column from Bert's and some wire. Very easy to do. Just plan out you attack but do use a turn signal lever and flasher-much easer to set up. It had all the instructions as to where each wire goes.

I did the same thing, got my "stuff" along with the instructions from Sacramento VF.

Take a look at this - it has a lot of info to wire turn signals/emergency flashers w/toggle switches
I'm planning to use this set up on my pickup

Re: Turn signal

It can be done with the toggle switch unnder the dash. The wires are slpiced into the stop light wire at the back of the car. It requires circuit directional diodes. (little thingamabobs that only let electricity go one direction. They are available from Radio Shak at about .50 each - come in a package of 4. I will start digging and see if I can find my diagram.

On my coupe I have the system built into a box that mounts on the kick panel and the toggle is mounted under the edge of the dash. Very indiscreet (sp?).
