After Market Lightswitch problem? Has anyone used the after-market light switch and encountered a problem when inseting the switch into the base of the steering colum. The after-market part is 1/8" shorter and this causes the prongs from the spider to enter the switch too far, causing a dead short. My old switch is the long body but it took a dump and I'm really getting frustrated trying to find an original switch or a spider with shorter prongs. I've even replaced the wiring with the after-market harness, with park lights that are part of the two socket headlights. Anyone's help would surely be appreciated.

Re: After Market Lightswitch problem? Best bet is to throw away the repro and get an original for about $40. End of problem

Re: After Market Lightswitch problem? Can't you just shorten the two legs on the spider to make it fit?

Guesse no one knew til now you were looking for one As I have not seen an add in the wanted section unless I missed it. Rod. |
Re: After Market Lightswitch problem? I had considered that, haven't tried it yet. Dave at Bratton's is sending a spider that he mic'd and it came out at .380, the longer version is .400. Thought I'd wait for that part, see if it will do the job. Thanks

Re: After Market Lightswitch problem? Rod, I'm obviously new to this blog. Tried posting a new thread indicating the problem I am currently trying to solve. Must have been phrased wrong.

Re: After Market Lightswitch problem? Well, all you Senior members that had comments on the after-market light switch('31 with park lights) problem, I got everything working. Bratton's light switch is the one that worked because it was the same size as the original. there were other problems and if anyone needs help, I'd be happy to.
