License plate restoration?

Does any one have experience with a vendor for license plate restoration? One plate in good condition. What should I expect to pay? Thanks for any assistance.

Darryl's Restoration in Duryea, PA does top-shelf work, but it took seven months for the process and I found out later I was fortunate to get them back so quickly. $152 for two plates, and again, they were beautiful. I won't go into details of my problems with the DMV, but if I had to do it all over again, I would buy two good original plates from a vendor who will guarantee they will clear for registration, or return your money. These vendors are out there, just google "vintage license plates". Good luck to you who ever you choose to use, but make sure your plate are clear to register before you send them in for restoration, and GET IT IN WRITING, not some bozo just saying so over the counter. (He's probably still working at the California DMV anyway, so you may be okay...)

Met him at Asheville meet. Plates look better than the Purple Gangs original work at the Big House. Not cheap, but spectacular work. Salt of the earth.

Sending my '30 and '63 Georgia plates for makeovers.

You may find it cheaper and easier to buy one he's completed at $75 than a cheapie on eBay that needs a full facelift.
