32 B amp meter question

I'm restoring my Dad's old 32 BB truck. I'm replacing the old wiring harness now (which was badly damaged, and cut up). The new harness is just about all in, and a partial schematic shows me which wires to hook to the + and - of the amp meter, but there is NOTHING marking which post is which on the back of the meter. Is there a quick and dirty way to identify them correctly???? (like if I'm looking at the BACK of the meter, which is which???) I'd guess the + is on the LEFT. Also, does it matter about polarity on the 6V coil? It's not marked either.

According to page 37 of the service manual the post on the left (looking at the back)is yellow and goes to the starter switch, the one on the right is yellow with black to the generator cutout and yellow and black to the ignition switch.

Re: 32 B amp meter question

Thanks Jim, that's the info I was needing. Any idea where I might get a copy of the entire wiring schematic? There was a single fuse holder and a 1.5 X 4" bakelite plate (with some type of small regulator and ceramic resistor) bolted to the inside firewall (above the steering column) that were completely bypassed, yet the old truck ran fine. Can you identify these items?

Thanks again Jim. It's looking like my Dad must have put a '33 cab onto this '32 chassis. It appears that the unused regulator on the firewall may have been required on the '33 & 34's, but not necessary on the '32. Those schematics are VERY helpful! Thanks again.

Re: 32 B amp meter question

'33 cab would have integral outward-bulging firewall...
The resistor goes with V8 flatheads, '32-48, but of course V8 '32 trucks are very unusual, v8 '33 trucks very normal.
I think I am right in saying that '32 fuse lived on a little bakelite carrier, the one in '33 truck was on a little piece of fiberboard.
The little regulator, if it is a small box, is likely a circuit breaker but would be from a later thirties Ford...it replaced the fuse. Breaker and ignition resistor shared a piece of board...likely that whole unit went in as a replacement for the resistor?
