Rear axle with extra plug on the bellhouse ?

I dont know the history or what it is on this axle .
There are a plug on side with 9/16 Unc tread .
Great if someone can tell me about this.

That is interesting. Do you know approximately what year it is (width and spring hangers will tell) and what ratio is stanmped on the bottom? Seems like there is always something new under the sun with old Fords.

Hello! It is on a 33 cabriolet i think sold new to england and have the F after 18 on chassienumber .The axle have the 33 leaf and parts . But i go to take a size on it later today.

The bell house is in total from the gasket on the rearaxle center to
brake shield is 24 2/3 inch so this must be a -37 or up size or what ?

If it was added by someone, I would think it to not over fill and drain extra off.My Guess

British Ford Pilot.
It's the anchor for the mechanical rear brake pivot.

I have 2 axles here.

The Ford pilot had mechanical brakes in the rear, and hydraulic in the front!
Never seen that type of mount, but havent seen many anyway :-)

This is the only Pilot axle ive seen in Sweden.

Dont think it had your mount.

But it had another type...

Not a Pilot axle, Lars, it might have come out of a Pilot, but not original to the car.
Pilot has wishbones similar to a 36.

I have one in Old Rusty and another one in the shed.

The axle ratio video I did featured a pilot axle.

Thanks for the history Mart,do you know what years they made this pilot axle?

Put in a picture on the 33 cab ,it have whas in a museum for a time in England
have i been told.
