Documentation of an original Model A/AA Ford

This is like looking for, or finding, a needle in "A" haystack...

Has anyone ever documented an all original, unrestored, Model A/AA Ford car or truck by having the original Ford Factory Bill of Sale to the dealer and the Dealership Bill of Sale to the customer?

There are a few Dealership Bill of Sales in respect to a known car or truck in existance but what about the Factory Bill of Sale to that same known car or truck in existance?

Wouldn't that be a find?

Pluck

I would think that would be rare indeed. I would think the dealership would not give the customer his invoice showing the profit he made on the deal.

Steve, several Model T researchers have been looking at the Accounting Dept. records at the archives. They have been able to find invoices for many early cars that have the engine number and the body style. They apparently have been able to determine the authenticity of some restorations, i.e., have found that several Torpedoes and Run Abouts, relatively rare body styles, were in fact originally touring cars. I don't know the extent of these records and may only pertain to Dearborn built cars. I don't know when other assembly plants opened. I don't know if there are Model A records but I'm not aware of anybody looking for them.

If these records do exist for A's, I'm sure some people would be very interested to know what their engine/frame originally had for body (and color too) but I'm also quite sure others would just as soon "let sleeping dogs lie."

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the documents in question were lost in the Ford museum fire in the 1970s. From my understanding there was a great amount of archive material that was lost.

I'm familiar with the Rotunda Fire, nothing Archive related was lost in that one. But there was another fire in 1970 which consumed archival materials & documents.

Look at the link below for more info.
