Windshield Wiper

On my 1930 Coupe that I seldom drive in the rain and when I do get caught in the rain the wiper blade has very little tension on the windshield. All it is really doing is batting away the rain drops before they hit the windshield. Is there a way to increase the tension on the windshield so it will actually wipe the windshield? The vacuum motor is good and strong.
Thanks!

Do you know if you have the proper arm and blade that works together? picture might be good to see what you have. Also a little rainX on the glass works great without the wiper going.

Re: Windshield Wiper

I tried the wiper arms that the model A stores offered and had the same problem. I finally solved the problem by putting on a more conventional spring loaded arm. The one that worked perfectly for me came off of a 1959 VW Beetle which you can buy
new from Wolfsburg West online at: www.wolfsburgwest.com with the blade. The
drawback on my car was that I was limited as to how far out I could open the windshield. In my case it was no problem. My wiper motor is mounted on the inside and
the shaft pokes through about three inches. Take a look at the picture of the arm and
blade on the website to see if that might work for you. JMHO :) If you are a purist,
forget my entire post!

I don't have a photo available right now but it is the wiper motor that is supposed to be there. It is outside with the shaft pointing towards the rear of the car. Maybe a stronger spring? I don't think there is a way to adjust the spring tension on it.

If it has the standard wire type arm the spring tension can be adjusted by removing the arm and sliding the spring clip down the arm and then reinstalling the arm.
