Measured a used 8BA cam (on V-blocks with dial indicator)
The pushrod lobe has .178" of travel.:D

Re: Fuel pump pushrod

It is,,, .185 minimum .200 maximum Ford specs. This is for 8BA, there are ways around this of course, use a longer or shorter pushrod, use a thinner or thicker gasket under the fuel pump mount.

Re: Fuel pump pushrod

Don't you think the travel of the rod is entirely dependant on the lift of the cam lobe? Changing the relative difference between the top of the rod and the fuel pump lever relates to the degree of interaction between the rod and the lever.

.185 to .200 is the lift of the pushrod. if your cam ecentric is worn down you will have less lift, therefore your fuel pump lever may not acuate enough to properly pump gas. if you add lenghth to the push rod with say a washer, now your pump may work. this is done quite often. you can acomplish the same goal by lowering the fuel pump mount. Most flathead guys know this trick already. Geez!!
p.s I am not as dumb as I look...jdl

The correct lift is .185 to .200
