Where is the fuel leaking from the carb? One cause/problem might be too high fuel pump pressure. Also it will help to know the type and model of the carburetor.

Sorry I see you said the carb is a 91-99 Ford / Holly.

Re: rebuilt carburetor

Possibly " NEW PUMP" most are from China.Too heavy a spring under the diaphram. Or poor rebuild on carb. Depends on componants that were put in it.Most over seas kits contain some incorrect parts. Rubber accel pump, too high a power valve, rubber tipped inlet needle,in other words a garbage rebuild . ken ct.

Re: rebuilt carburetor

Art,
In my humble opinion the Ford/Holley is a good carb and regardless
of the number on the left side of the bowl all are nearly identical.....until
you get into those from the later 50's. As Ken said the diaphragm spring
can mess up the pressure. Additionally a tiny bit of dirt inside one of
these pumps can cause a valve to malfunction and really adversely effect
the output.
I'm no expert but I've found the only safe way as a supplier to
provide reliable rebuilds is to test each component after rebuild/repair
on my shop test motor. Even using this approach the bad apple does
get thru on rare occasions.
Ken and I purchase our critical parts from known reputable sources
and yes some of these are made off shore. Parts store rebuild kits are
OK I guess but....well.....you know!

Re: rebuilt carburetor

I was surprised to find out just how much the stock Ford fuel pump puts out. Charlie did my carbs and fuel pump for me and now have a fuel regulator with gauge. I had to adjust the pressure as the pump was putting out almost 4lbs. Set it back to about 2- 2 1/2 and it runs perfect. I was told for many years don't worry about the pressure as the old pump does not put out much, well guess they really do! My 2 cents for the day, listen to Charlie and Ken they will give you great advice....:D
