(wanted) 49 F1 Cowl vent panel

Hey anyone have a cowl vent panel for a 1949 ford F1? It seems like everyone sell the mechanism along with it which i really dont need. I am having trouble just finding the thing on any magazine. The one i have is rotten all to hell.

meat6895 , can you use the old one for a pattern and make a new one from the same thickness sheet metal , I did one for my 34 ford... JMHO...

True true true. The only problem with that is all the nice rounded edges and im work metal about as well as a monkey does math. Its entertaining to watch but thats about it. It is worth a try though.

48 thru 50 are the same. The 51/52s are the same dimensions and would probably swap, but they are made differently.

48-50 is a sandwich or clam-shell piece made of two pieces with cage nuts inside.
51/52 is a single piece of sheetmetal with a metal bracket to make up for the depth of the earlier one.

Wish I had a picture...........

@mtflat- I heard they fit from 48-52 but didnt know there was a difference. Thanks for the heads up. Ive heard of people getting frustrated and just welding over the vent flush and excluding the whole thing all together.

Mine is functional and it's wonderful on those warm summer days with both windows open. Crack that vent and you instantly feel the rush.

I haven't tried to swap the two styles but they look like the mounting bolts/holes will line up just fine.

It can be a challenge getting the seal to keep water out in a downpour, but worth the bother.

I live in oregon so you could say its been known to rain a bit here. Its definetly worth a try.

Well i made one. Atleast it will look good closed and im gonna try to make my mount on the underneath as pretty as possible before i call it good. Wished someone had one that was in better shape than the one i already have and thank you to all the folks that showed me what they were willing to sell.
