Stromberg 97 Winter/Summer settings

My '35 fordor has a good '39 24 stud motor with a nice running Stromberg 97. I only recently noticed that the accelerator pump linkage is in the Winter position. I understand this gives the pump a slightly longer stroke, thus delivering a little more fuel. I've had this car 3 years and never changed it to the Summer position. The car runs fine year round and only gets ethanol free gas.

Do you guys change the linkage position as the season changes? Do you notice any difference in performance or economy? Really just wondering if there is a good reason to change it. Today's gas is much different from that available in the 1930s.

Thoughts?

Why don't you just try it? After all of these years, no two cars respond the same way to any major or minor change, so what anyone else experienced may not be the same as what you do. It ain't hard, and I don't think it'll hurt anything, so have at it! When I was 16, it would have been done and a test drive taken in the tine it took me to respond to your post!

I will. Just wanted to hear what others have experienced. It is a stock motor and there are plenty if those on the road.
