Are the fuel gauge sending unites up to 1955 compatible with the 1940 king sealy senders ?

Kurt: According to Googler the answer is YES. The gas tank sending units are the same. Read about it here:

Yes, they are --- all 6 volt.
All you will need to do is save your current extension for the unit. (where the connector is) and connect it to the new sending unit.

Ford used them up into the early 60s. They all work on the same principle if electric. Ford used instrument voltage regulators after 1956.
