Rochester 2G for mostly stock ‘40 pickup
 

I’m putting a Merc intake and Rochester 2G or 2GC or 2GV carb on my pickup’s C69A motor. Do I have to fab my own throttle, choke and accel linkages or has someone already come up with a solution I can beg, steal, borrow or even pay for?

Look up "Krylon 32" on here and he may have the parts to do what you need to do on your '40 pickup. I do believe you can use your stock throttle pedal linkage, but probably have to make a new rod to the carb. Krylon may have the parts or can make them for you.

Do a search on here. TUBMAN and others have posted some good information.
You must bore the manifold to suit the base of the carb, best done with a hole saw and using an old base for a guide.
Putting the carb on backwards allows the throttle linkage and fuel line to align. The choke works back to front, but I have seen some online solutions by TUBMAN.

Now might be a good time to post these photos. The first is of the 2G on my '51 with a conventional choke, while the second is a manifold with the "divorced choke" mechanism that mounts right on the manifold. If you look hard enough, you can find 2G's to match either variety. Both varieties install very easily, with the first requiring a minor shortening of the choke heat tube, while the second requires a small change in the angle of the bend in the actuating rod.

On my '51, all I needed to add was a ball stud on the linkage on the carburetor that accepted the Ford throttle rod; everything else fell into place. I realize a '51 is different from a '40, but all flatheads are similar.
