46 truck bench seat brackets

Need some help -I have a 46 1-1/2 ton truck and I purchased a new bench seat from Lebanon Bonny -but it didnt come with the mounting brackets -are there any after market mounting brackets that work -to attach to seat riser -I think they have 2 holes where they mount to the riser —Thanks

I have a few of these trucks, but only one has factory seat hardware. There are pretty much just some easily made steel straps with a hole at each end. I will get some pics and measurements later today.

Re: 46 truck bench seat brackets

I THINK the brackets are riveted to the seat fame, never seen anyone making these parts although as GB says they may not be too hard to produce, lots of parts for 42 to 47 trucks are not reproduced....

Re: 46 truck bench seat brackets

I'm sorry I didn't get out there this afternoon, but I do remember that the two holes at the rear of the seat riser on each side are threaded for 1/4-28 female threads. Maybe the front of the seat riser has the bullet tips that go into one of three holes at the front of the seat. Been awhile....

Took these this afternoon. Easy to make. I can't tell if there is a bullet shaped stud on the fwd end of seat riser as Mine has an added strip of 1/2" plywood all around and the bullet on my old tonner, a '38 was about 1/2" tall. I can look on a parts truck in the morning as I finally have a day off....

Re: 46 truck bench seat brackets

Thank you Pete! In these photos, the seat has been slid forward to better show the hold down strap. In driving position this would put the seat about as rearward as possible. Funny when you consider I'm 5'-6". To say the seat was 'slid' forward is really not accurate, because the strap raises the seat off the base as it moves forward, and as you can see there are actually 3 holes tapped for the 1/4-28 round head screw, not 2.

Re: 46 truck bench seat brackets

I looked in my parts truck that has a good seat riser and no bullet tip for locating the front end of the seat. In fact there doesn't seem to be anything up front. Maybe the seat base has parts that ride againgst the riser's lip. Where's Rawlir?

I guess I never knew that two machine screws were threaded into two of the holes. I guess thst gives just two seat positions for the taller folks. Cramped and more cramped. All my trucks have had the neat swing-up oak board behind the seat back, but I have never used it in the up position. And rawlir, does anything locate the front of the seat from moving around? My '46 tonner express avatar has original seat, the woodie has early vw bug seats and the foyota has a suburban third row for a bench seat.

Re: 46 truck bench seat brackets

I believe 2 screws on each side are all that anchor the seat in position. I have never seen anything that keeps the front of seat from moving. Someone told me recently that Ford gave you a choice of 2 screws in 3 holes to pick up a 1" or so in setting. Not sure of that? I do have a complete seat & back rest for sale, rebuilt, restored, ready to install, i had an extra seat & backrest, had a fellow getting ready to retire, so had him do it knowing someday someone would want it.....
