Wheel bearing grease recommendation? Ford Barn team,
I have a basic question regarding recommendation for wheel bearing grease as I need to reassemble rear drums on '33 pickup and would like to use the correct grease. Recommendations requested. Thanks in advance, Steve Keep V-8ing |
Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? any good quality htb grease thats readily available in your area .Whats around now is far better than the 30s

Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? Thank you Aussie Merc. I will assume htb = high temperature bearing. I appreciate the input.

Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? Multiple threads going on this topic (link to one posted below). The long favorite from Sta-bil is made no longer. Some folks have investigated and found an alternative, but I haven’t seen anyone say just any good quality grease is fine, until now.

Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? TIMKEN wheel bearing grease by the company who supplies(d) FORD as OEM tapered roller bearings WHO better to make a grease than the company that makes bearings?!......
|
Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? He said rear, so not tapered. Same recommendation?
|
Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? Thank you for the input, Alchemy I appreciate the thread which I read through. I'm starting from clean with a new seal and yes, rear bearings so no taper. I am considering TIMKEN GR224TUB Grease which is "premium hi-temp red" per the container on Amazon. I would welcome any other thoughts from the Barn.

Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? Yes same grease doesn't matter WHAT type of bearing (s) you're lubricating with the exception of fully rubber sealed bearings they DON'T need grease as they're packed from the factory with grease......

Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? All, thank you for the input and insight.

Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? The Timken grease is the preferred stuff currently. And affordable.
The only stuff that beats that is made by Klüber. And is not inexpensive by any measure. |
Re: Wheel bearing grease recommendation? Thanks 1948 pickup. I appreciate the confirmation.
