Two Pickups: 1937 and 1939

After sitting all winter, it was time to get them out and loosen them up. I just finished the ‘39 and it hopefully will be in someone else’s garage soon. The ‘37 is my wife’s and it has all of the deluxe features that were available when new…including an Anthony bed, compliments of Oldandtired, here on the Fordbarn.

Nice trucks! Does the '37 have a chrome grille?

Yes, the grille was NOS when I had it plated.

I recall the chrome grille was part of the deluxe package. I had a 37 big truck with a chrome grille and dual chrome horns and other features. The dealer demonstrator trucks had these features as well. That's a really nice pair of trucks!

The ‘39 is actually more “modified “ than the ‘37. Most is period correct stuff. Open drive shaft transmission to an 8” Ford rear end. 59A engine with race cam. Front disc brakes on original axle. Still 6 volt everything. Truck only has 59k miles. It has the best sheet metal of any vehicle I have ever owned. The man I bought it from wanted something that he could keep up with traffic, but stop with it as well.

The ‘37 only has a 1955 DeSoto 291 hemi backed up by an original transmission. It has ‘46 brakes. As stated, it is (and was originally) a Deluxe cab. It has an Anthony bed (which was available through Ford dealers). I have an original factory brochure verifying the bed. Everything else is bone stock original 1937 Ford.

Both are fun vehicles. By the way, I also have a 1937 coupe with pickup bed which may be one of the rarest Fords ever made. Google it!!
