1933 Interior Question 2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
Working on a 1933 Ford 5 window. Currently working on the templates for the upholstery panels. Anyone know how the panels terminate from the B pillar to the trunk area? Not sure how wide the original panels were in that area. thanks, Rich |

Thank you for the reply. The 3 window may help point me in the right direction. According to the V8 Restoration manuals the car was produced on April 1 1933 as 40-770 standard. Just trying to have the interior look as original as possible.

Mine is a 34. I've been told its original, but I'm no expert. If not at least its a very old reproduction interior. If you need other areas ask. My seat blocks the sides below the 1/4 windows and does not have functional sliders so I cant see the below 1/4 window area along the door B pillar well.

My kick panels are simply black laminar paper board covered with brown Naugahyde and held in with button head spring clips, same ones used to hold the rubber floor mat in place. The same Naugas were skinned to cover the rumble seat cushions and its surrounding paper boards. Doors and seat look like this: |

Re: 1933 Interior Question Those are the type of photos I was looking for. The 32 & 33 V8 Restoration Manuals are good, but those help.
I will be transferring the templates to panel board and do some final trimming for a good fit when the fabric is on them. Still need to install the upper door tins and figure the windlace placement. I been buying interior items from Classtique. Because the car was built on April 1, the dash and moldings will gray. Do you know if the upper door tins are considered molding? Wasn't sure if I should have painted them Coach Maroon when I painted the car? |
Re: 1933 Interior Question My dash and garnish are "grained", and I use that term loosely. Its more like sponge painted, dabbed and blurred than grained but they look possibly original to me. Its the only one of its kind in my area that I know of and I have had it less than 6 months so I have seen nothing yet to compare it to. The metal that holds the windlace in place at the top of door opening inside the body on my car is painted body color, black in my case. My car was restored in 1977 so things may not be by the book but the people doing it then had access to first hand knowledge so its possibly close to correct.
Yes, the 33/34 book is ok but lacking in the details one really needs. No where near as comprehensive as Kube's new '40 book or David's two volume '32 books. I like the Early Ford V8 as Henry Built It Production Facts 1932-38 book. |

Yes, same material for header and visors (visors look a bit darker in the image as the top side is less faded). The visors have a bound edge in a dark brown vinyl.
