wanted or just scrap NOS Y block 1 Attachment(s)
Have had it for years,a couple times at Hershey, now taking up space inside.
Is it something that would be wanted, says 352 on front of block, has broken off ear where bell housing mounts. If no interest scrap Any interest in main caps? I have other blocks to practice welding on so I dont need it for that. |

Re: wanted or just scrap NOS Y block If they are 312 main caps that would be of interest to me. With a broken ear, not sure that is fixable.

My view of of that photo on a cellphone screen isn't the best but it doesn't look like a '54 to '64 239/312 Y-block.
I'm not too familiar with Ford's next generation of engines but with a "352" cast on the front and that one image of the block it seems more like a 352/390 FE engine. Edit... Here's an example photo of the head surface of a Y-block. Notice the row of oddly shaped holes across the top for the pushrods. . |
Re: wanted or just scrap NOS Y block It is a FE. I don't see any cross bolts so not a 427. Also is has 4 engine mount holes so it is 65 and newer. If it has a 4.130 bore that would make it a 428 and worth something to somebody.

Re: wanted or just scrap NOS Y block The 352 is one of the FE clues. There should be a casting number that indicates what year range it was made for. If a part of the casting that broke off included a bolt hole then I'd say scrap unless the broken piece is still around. Even then, there are still FE blocks out there. Ford type Y-blocks are around but not as easy to find as FEs are. B prefix would be late 50s. A C prefix is in the 60s. The blocks changed a bit in the early to mid 60s but can still be retro fitted either way.
