Model T grease fittings 1 Attachment(s)
-
I was going through some old boxes of parts that I hadn't had open for years and found these grease fittings and grease guns. I'm pretty sure these are original Model T fittings but I wanted to check with the experts on it. What say ye.... Thanks, Leon |

Re: Model T grease fittings Not for a Model T. Model Ts used oil in most places but just a few where a grease cup was used.

Re: Model T grease fittings Alemite came out with those somewhere in the 1920s. The bayonet type connection would hold the grease gun against the fitting better than just pushing against pressure. The design was offered for Fords. This link has information and an an Alemite specific link as well. They weren't used on Ford OEM products but could be installed by the owner or his service provider.

Re: Model T grease fittings use them if you have them. Personally I drive my car and it isn't a points car so I use modern Zerks in the 6 places grease cups would have been.

Re: Model T grease fittings Nash, Willys Knight, & Hupmobiles of the '20s used them.

Re: Model T grease fittings -
Thanks everyone. They have been buried in my storage shed for at least 27 years and just saw the light of day this last week.... :) I just bought a driver '30 Model A pickup so maybe I could use them on it instead of the push on ones that are on there. I will try it. |
Re: Model T grease fittings Chevrolet, Buick, Dodge Brother used them too.

Re: Model T grease fittings Have fun. Packing the grease gun with grease is only half the fun!

Heck, I have trouble getting the cartridge ones to work after I put a new one in so it won't make any difference there. I will be a mess either way... :) . |
Re: Model T grease fittings That grease gun looks like the one I have been using on my Model As for decades'

Thanks, I will have to see if it will work on the Model A fittings if I push on it... I need to grease my water pump. |

Re: Model T grease fittings The front bearing on a model A water pump can take a general purpose grease and has one of the conventional fittings but the rear bushing takes a low melt grease and has a special fitting too keep from coolant intrusion and possible leakage (screw on cap).
There are multiple types of model A pumps with the OEM type and several leakless types so it also depends on the type of bearings for those. |
