Uvira Headlight Reflector Coating
 

Has anyone recently dealt with Uvira, the company in Oregon that refurbished headlight reflectors? Both of the two phone numbers I have for them are no longer in service. If Uvira is out of business, is there another company that uses the same process on reflectors?

I wish I could answer your question, but I can't. I will say that when they put the final coating on my 36 reflectors, they worked perfectly. What a difference when I turned my lights on. They did require that I send the reflectors with a coating of copper on them which I had to have done locally. terry

I don't know if they are still available but I got reproduction headlight lenses from Drake that were manufactured with the same coating process. Those along with new headlight lenses made a huge difference in the headlights on the 37 that Dad and I had at the time.


Update: I looked at Drake's website and the lenses I purchased are no longer offered. Drake now seems insistent on selling to the hot rod crowd instead of the preservation folks.

This is the number I have but it’s been 10 years since I had mine coated. I tried the repop reflectors and was never satisfied with them so I sent a pair of original reflectors to them and they worked perfectly. Bright white headlights. I did have to get them nickel plated before sending them for the reflective coating.

That phone number is disconnected. The other number listed for them, 541-474‑5050, also is a non-working number. A search doesn't turn up anything useful either.

In my searching around, I had found Vacuum Orna-Metal's website and it appeared that they only did metalizing of plastic & ceramic materials. But a closer read of their website indicates they do metal reflectors. I'll contact them and report back. Thanks.

Vacuum Orna-Metal only refinishes plastic parts, no metal parts. They do refinish headlight reflectors, but only the modern, plastic ones - on which they deposit chrome. Their results look very reflective in photos even though electroplating chrome on our antique metal reflectors reportedly doesn't seem to produce good results.

I'm continuing to dig around in hopes of finding an alternative to silver.
