Exhaust whistle
 

I am rebuilding my 1930 Tudor and have yet to install the body. I came across a four pipe train whistle with the control valve at Bert’s some years ago. I would like to install it now but wonder where others have theirs. The diameter of the valve connector is the larger size, like the pipe from manifold to muffler.Aft of the muffler is a smaller diameter. I am assuming the obvious that it would install below the manifold, but since I have a new stainless exhaust from Snyders I don’t want to mess up the costly pipe by making a mistake.
Also, I have a floor button that is spring loaded that looks like it would work as the operating control. It seems to be cast aluminum alloy.
If anyone has knowledge about this installation I would be happy to hear about it.

It installs before the muffler.

I had mine between the muffler & exhaust and had nothing but trouble with it leaking. So, I took it out and got the adapter that goes on the end of the exhaust pipe. Works great for me there.

Install it at the exhaust manifold to get the most exhaust gas pressure.

I have never seen one on a car or even a model A.I have seen them on antique tractors before and from what i have seen they run it right off the manifold

Several in our club and we have them at the end of the exhaust.

Is the adapter locally made or obtainable somewhere? I like the idea of having more pressure closer to the manifold but don’t want to put up with leaking. I bought a new stainless muffler system from Snyders. If installed between manifold and exhaust, that will drop the system down several inches.unsure if the engine pan will still fit. The car was completely disassembled and is coming back together.easier to modify now without the cabin and fenders. Maybe installing at the end of the tailpipe via adapter would be more trouble free, and still work.
Also, I have a cast aluminum alloyedal that is spring loaded. Hopefully I can mount this in the floor board to operate the exhaust butterfly valve.

A muffler shop can make you up an adapter.
