35 -37 pitman arm? 2 Attachment(s)
Guys has anyone used a 37 pitman arm on a 35 steering box? They are approximately 1” longer and I’m wondering if it may make the steering just a little easier with the extra 1” length. Anyone got any feedback on this? I have a fully rebuilt 37 steering box , but unfortunately it doesn’t fit with my headers I made to clear the 35 steering box. Dan

Re: 35 -37 pitman arm? Won't longer make the steering more responsive, but you will have to use more effort, especially at low speed.?

Re: 35 -37 pitman arm? Yes that’s what I thought, 1 buddy says it will be easier, the other saying harder. Was hoping to get some real feedback back from someone who has done it and knows for sure

Re: 35 -37 pitman arm? Dan, your efforts put to better use would be to rebuild your headers to mate well with the much improved '37 box. The question on the pitman arms, definitely more effort required with the longer arm. your '35 box with
37 arm will be two wrongs made worse. |
Re: 35 -37 pitman arm? He's right on both counts. I put a '37 steering box in my '36 when I updated the engine, and it was a great improvement.

Re: 35 -37 pitman arm? Ok thanks guys. I’ve driven over 100,000 miles with a 35 steering box, it can stay like that! As I won’t be changing the ss headers now!

Ok guys. After careful consideration I removed the 35 steering box and
Modified my right hand side headers to install a rebuilt 37 steering box. I’ll clean and paint the 37 pitman arm in the morning but now it’s done I know it should be a bit more enjoyable to drive.(eventually!) Thanks Dan. |
