A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. Research on the Barn, and as a matter of fact, anywhere else, is kinda like riding a bike... or is it? I for one can attest that the older I get, the more I forget things. No, I didn't forget how to ride a bike, it's just beyond my physical ability now.
Doing research here is easy peasy, ...for the young. Others, like myself, after a few minutes searching, tend to forget what we're searching for. No joke, it's a real thing. Like going to the garage to get a tool and forgetting why you are in the garage. So, a New Year's Resolution for me: I swear on my Motor's Manual, I'll be less critical of those who ask questions who's answers are easily found with the Barn's search engine. And to counter my own inability to reason why the young ask questions, I have taken up a subscription to ChatGTP. That AI thing is super quick with it's answers, has a great personality, and is as trustworthy as Eddie Haskell. The FordBarn's answers, however, are golden. |
Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. Can I remove my fuel pump push rod without issue?
(That was a joke as I see that come up almost daily (I’m guilty of it) on social media.) a quick search answers 50% of my questions usually. |
Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. My biggest problem, when searching on this forum, is,.... do I search the threads or search the posts. What the hell's the difference?!!
I have to say, there is a fantastic amount of "accurate" information stored in this forum's archives. The searching is just part of the fun. Thank you all who have contributed for all these years. Phil |
Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. I will add what my buddy Skip said earlier in the week, directed to a brand new member/poster. Make the thread's title relevent to the subject at hand, as a good title aids the next generation of 'Fordnuts' to get the answers they need. I have broken this rule many times in the past and looking back, some were straight outa left field. Notably, 'A Covid excuse to play hookey'... huh? This was a lengthy and detailed thread about how I converted a rusted out Japanese 4x4 station wagon into a poser Desert Rat 42 ford to resemble the vehicles used in the North Africa campain during WW2. Horrible title. Then there was 'Winter without a project?' About a complete build of a '46 tonner express from parts donated by 3 parts trucks. Many pages of detailed text and photos that nobody working on a tonner will ever find. Choose a title for the next generation! End of rant. GB

This is a search for "steering box adjustment" by thread https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1767977715 and this is the same search by post https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...7&d=1767977499 |
Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. I find it more efficient to put questions to google and let its superior search engine give me hits on the Barn, AACA, EFV8 Forum and the hamb all at once. BUT i get asking an old question again, sometimes there are new answers and frankly it keeps the community and conversation going.

Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. I learnt this years ago and it appears to still work.
Using google type what you are trying to find info on into google but use the format shown below. Lets say we want kingpin info. kingpin site:fordbarn.com I just did it and it works well. Mart. |
Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish. I'm still searching for the wrench that I put down an hour ago in the garage! More important than searching the internet!
