speedo gear I have installed a T10 re-built from a 64 Ford Galaxy four speed transmission in my 56 Ford Sunliner and wondering what speedo gear will work?

Re: speedo gear Do you have a gear on it now? If so, find how much the speedo is off before changing. More teeth makes the speedo go slower, less teeth speeds the speedo up. Otherwise, there is a procedure to find this out. Hopefully some one will have it as I do not.
In addition, what ever gear you get, make sure the orientation of the teeth are the same as yours. There are rwo different orientations. ebay is a good place to find driven gears. That is where I got mine. |

You can buy a 4 gear set for about 30 bucks online.... with the proper different ratios... I believe CJ Pony sells them..... make sure you have the LT or RT.. (left or right) entry point for your application on your T10. |

IIRC, almost all factory regular production transmissions from the 50's until the mid 60's have a 1:1 ratio for their high gear.
Unless the gear pitch is opposite (left or right handed) you may not need to change the speedometer cable gear at all. Was the rear axle or its gear ratio changed? As suggested... if it is currently working double check it before making changes. Start by checking the odometer reading over a known distance, with gps or hiway mile markers. The odometer is gear driven and more likely to be accurate than the tiny springs and spinning magnets in the speedometer needle mechanism. It's very possible for the odometer to be accurate and the speedometer needle to read incorrectly. In that case it's the internal needle mechanism that needs cleaning and/or adjustment.
