Pearl Harbor Day I realize that this is off subject, but I just watched the news on TV and read the NY Times and there is no mention of Pearl Harbor. What am I missing?

Re: Pearl Harbor Day Robert: You are not missing anything. Sadly, today's media generation does not relate to WW II history. It will only get worse as generations transition away from American history and tradition. Thanks for remembering that day of infamy.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day Thanks Fordy, I will never forget it. I was in the 3rd grade then and when I went to school the next morning the older kids told us that the Japs were coming and were going to kill us. Some of us started crying.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day Nothing on my home page on the internet either. Very sad. And if you look into Henry's involvement with the war effort it's very impressive. JMO

Re: Pearl Harbor Day It is on my calendar. From my bank and telephone company. It should have been on the news. Yes, sad times.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day Some mentions today on Facebook. Our son came home from school when he was in 7th grade and asked why they had to study history because "that's just stupid old stuff". My answer was if you don't some nice man will stuff your butt in the back of a C 130 and put a M-16 in your hand and you will go somewhere unpleasant. He ended up going to Iraq twice. His Pearl Harbor was 9/11. Yes, history matters but the milestones are different for the generations.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day I have a cousin who is entombed on the USS Arizona. I will never forget.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day Well, for those that get up early......CBS Sunday Morning did a piece on December 7, 1941.
The bad news was that it concerned a family who's early relatives were spys for the Japanese and contributed to the attack taking place. Sadly, the current generation did the reseach and found out the true facts. And as with the current administration, Roosevelt made a change to the firing squad execution -- to time in prison. The show should be available under CBS. |

Being retired military, I do not forget, here is what I wore today,….

Re: Pearl Harbor Day RIP to those that served on that day and later. We own them a huge debt. I read where the calendar for 1941 was the same as 2025 as in Sunday 7th December. We who are of that generation will never forget. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day I always tried to get WWII soldiers to talk to me. When they knew I was truly serious about knowing what they went through, they always thanked me for listening to their stories. I had a lot of WWII era hot rod dry lakes racers that were my friends. One guy was captured by the Germans with a bunch of dry lake racing, fender-less highboy Ford roadsters photos on him. He told the German investigating officer that things had gotten so bad in America that they were taking the fenders off of their cars and turning them in for scrap metal for the War. I never forgot that fender-less hot rod story.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day 1 Attachment(s)
This is how I display my ‘41 at car shows, the Hawaii plate came from eBay and so did the radio. The radio has a postage stamp size amplifier that plays music and news from December 7th 1941. I usually ask high schoolers what happened on December 7th, most don’t know. I did have one girl tell me the correct answer, she then went on to tell me it’s sad that they don’t teach history in school anymore.

Re: Pearl Harbor Day My sister in law's maiden name was Day. Her dad wanted to name her " Pearl Harbor Day"
but they wouldn't let him. So she became Patricia. |
