1962 falcon radio Hi guys. I have a 62 falcon radio that I'll never use.Maybe someone here can. I would like to see if it works first, but I'm a little unsure of the wiring. It has two black wires on the drivers side. One is 6" long with a male bullet connector. The other is 26" long with a male spade connector. Where do these go? On the back side there is a bakalite plate 1 1/4" X 1/2" with 2 small holes. One being a little bigger than the other. What plugs into these? And, is the radio grounded through the case? I'm kinda anxious to see if it works. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Re: 1962 falcon radio I forgot to mention.....It's a model 04md.

Re: 1962 falcon radio In general, a radio got power and a light circuit. I’d guess (operative word guess) the longer one plugged into the light sw on the parking light circuit, and the male bullet into a females (or female female connector) for the power feed. The Bakelite was the speaker connection. Grounded thru the radio chassis to dash mounting. Should be an antenna connection also.

Re: 1962 falcon radio Thanks a bunch. I'm not the best when it comes to electrical. I have noticed though that they never put enough smoke in the wires. Once the smoke is gone it quits working. Again, thanks.

Re: 1962 falcon radio 1 Attachment(s)
It works on negative ground too.

Re: 1962 falcon radio Thanks for the help and the chuckle.

Re: 1962 falcon radio I owned an E Jag once. Buy the smoke by the case.

Re: 1962 falcon radio I saw a t shirt at a car show years ago.... "Lucas. Lord Of Darkness".

Re: 1962 falcon radio I think Lucas gets a bum rap--he did not invent darkness---just the sudden and unexpected presence of it.

Re: 1962 falcon radio Yes, and quiet. From the fuel pump failing to the ignition circuit.
