Can any of you Truck guys help me out?
Anybody know if the carriage type bolts (6) per side for the top of 1/2 ton Commercial pickups running boards are the same as for 1ton Tonner Express pickups? Bolt heads are 3/4" Rounded head & 1 5/8" long. They have square shoulders under heads.
I need 12, anyone know where to get some?
Thanks for any help or referrals......
Rick

I have replaced them quite often with regular carraige bolts with a short pipe spacer below the square. If they are tha same on 1/2 tons maybe one of the bed guys might carry them.

I looked for them a couple years ago and came to the conclusion they aren't reproduced.

Checking to see if 3rd Gen or Bolt Depot might stock them, if not, cannot think of anyone else who might have/stock these.....

You didn't tell us the thread size.

In order to get high quality USA bolts these days you need friends in low places, like my pal Eric at the county dump. He saves stuff for me, usually has a pile waiting for my weekly visit. pipe fittings, jugs of chemicals, ( mineral spirits etc), electric gadgets, you name it. Last week I got these 2 cans of vintage painted carriage bolts and square nuts. Some with extra large head, limited variety. There was 4 cans, I only took 2 to keep my reputation clean and not a hoarder.

I could pay a mere 16 dollars a month to have trash picked up, but its a 800 foot driveway, and I go to town at least once a week any way, can't miss taco tuesday at the mini mart, so...go visit Eric!

If these look like they would work, send me a pm, they're free.

Also, if you use modern hardware store stuff, I like to do a quick dunk in muratic acid to clean the plating to hold paint

I have the same routine…..live at the end of a half mile dirt road and my weekly trip to the Transfer Station about 5 miles away usually includes a stop at the hardware store….I bring them a case of bottled water once a month and they set stuff aside for me….you gotta be in good with dump guys!………..Mark
