Kudos to Speedway Motors

1 Attachment(s)
I know that opinions vary regarding Speedway Motors, at times my own as well. I purchased an Offenhauser 8ba block pressure testing kit back in March and used it for the first time last week. Happily the test of the passenger side was successful. Reinstalling the head plate to the other side I found that the provided sealing washers, a steel washer with rubber bonded to the bottom side, are not 100% reusable, I had about 8 bolt/washers that were bubbling under pressure. I removed those bolts and saw the washers were deformed (I had torqued bolts to the recommended 20 ft lbs) so I tapped them flat as best I could and used the one extra washer on a bolt. I had success with a couple I had massaged as well as the bolt with the new washer.

So I called Speedway, talked to some folks and explained that I was not able to completely test one block. They understood and sent me a bunch (more that I needed) of these sealing washers, will be here Saturday, at no charge.

Just thought I'd share a positive example of Customer Service.

Hey B&S,
By all means hit them up, just in case I got No Bueno from Speedway, (Which they were great) I found the sealing washers on Grangers. I can provide part # if needed. Thanks.

that is based of my current cost on inventory....They "may" have gone up just a little bit BUT for now, what I have in stock is good at $ 9.95 per 100. I sent off to get a quote on restocking them and can let you know later today.

I checked my replenishment cost on these and once my "current" supply is gone they will go up $ 1.00 to $ 10.95 per 100 plus shipping!!! I have already sold 200 and I estimate having maybe another 200 or so left before my new stock come in.

Aren’t the head bolts 7/16 thread like the studs on earlier engines?
