Original Quail

I just saw an original quail sell on eBay for $861.00. Is this the going rate these days. I’m hoping to find a nice original one for a 180A I bought but not sure about that sale price. Thoughts ?

Depends on condition. If really nice…..that’s a bit heavy but not by much

That could be/maybe one of the early brass quails. They work and plate much better than the pot metal ones. Pretty rare. I think they were changed to pot metal due to mfg cost and they are heavy. …very heavy
I have one and I think that would be my est…….assuming that one is brass.

Geeeez, he got $861 for it AND he charged for shipping. Now he has to get it chromed. I will guess $300?

The quail appeared to have more detail than the new ones.

It would be less expensive to just shoot one and have it stuffed.

Re: Original Quail

I removed the original quails from my cars that had them. The pot metal material they are cast from tends to deteriorate with use and in general they are fragile. In my opinion they make better mantel ornaments than radiator caps. But to each his own.
